Expert People Placements

Who supplies certified network and ICT specialists to projects across Ireland and internationally?

VEI Global is an ISO 9001 certified networking and telecommunications engineering company that supplies certified specialists to technology projects across Ireland, the United Kingdom and over 100 countries worldwide. From our headquarters in Clane, Co. Kildare and our office in Manchester, we place solution architects, network engineers, cloud and DevOps specialists, programme and project managers, presales consultants and field engineering teams into customer projects, on a day rate, on contract, or permanently. The people we supply come out of the same certified engineering pool that delivers VEI’s own Wi-Fi, LAN, mobile coverage and voice work. This is specialist ICT resourcing for organisations delivering real infrastructure projects, not general technology staffing.

What makes VEI different from an IT recruitment agency?

VEI is an engineering company that resources projects. It is not an agency that forwards CVs and hopes. Since 2010 we have been deploying the same disciplines on our own multisite networks, which means the people we put forward are assessed by engineers who have done the work rather than matched on keywords.

Three things carry that difference:

  • The people come out of a delivery business. VEI has deployed more than 20,000 wireless access points across Europe and supports customer operations in over 100 countries. The solution architects, network engineers and field teams we place are drawn from and measured against that delivery record, not sourced cold against a job spec.
  • Assessed by engineers, not by keyword. Every specialist is technically screened by people who run networks for a living, against HPE Aruba, Cisco, Arista, Microsoft, Luware and Zyxel environments as they are actually built. You get someone who can do the work on day one.
  • One person or the whole team. The same offering covers a single specialist filling a gap and a full project team mobilised for a multisite rollout. You are not obliged to buy a managed contract to get access to the engineers behind it.

Which specialists can VEI supply?

VEI resources across the full technology and engineering spectrum. The disciplines we place most often are:

  • Solution architects. Network, connectivity and unified communications design for enterprise and multisite estates, from requirements through to the as built documentation.
  • Network engineers. Certified engineers across wireless, LAN, WAN and network security, covering design, configuration, commissioning and fault resolution.
  • Cloud and DevOps specialists. Infrastructure automation, pipeline and platform work for organisations moving workloads or standardising how their infrastructure is built and maintained.
  • Programme and project managers. Delivery leadership for multisite and multi country technology programmes, including vendor coordination, reporting and change control.
  • Presales consultants and account managers. Commercial and technical people who can scope, cost and defend a solution in front of a customer.
  • Field engineering and cabling specialists. In country hands for installation, structured cabling, site surveys, staging and on site commissioning.

Where a requirement sits outside that list, we resource against it from the same pool and the same assessment standard.

How does VEI engage: day rate, contract to hire, or permanent?

Three engagement models, chosen to fit the shape of the work rather than the shape of a contract.

  1. Contract, on a day rate. Specialists for a defined piece of work or a fixed window. The right model for rapid deployment, project peaks and cover, where you need capability now and you need it to stop when the project stops.
  2. Contract to hire. The specialist works on your project on contract first, and converts to your payroll if both sides want it. The right model when the role is probably permanent but you would rather see the person deliver before committing.
  3. Full time placement. Permanent hires for roles you are building around, where the requirement is long term transformation rather than a delivery peak.

Scale moves in both directions. Customers start with one specialist and grow to a team, or take a full team for a rollout and step back down to a retained one or two afterwards.

What does engaging a VEI specialist involve?

Every resourcing engagement runs through the same four steps.

  1. Requirement definition. We work through what the project actually needs: the discipline, the certification level, the environment it has to work in, the location, the duration and the engagement model. Output is a written requirement both sides agree before anyone is put forward.
  2. Technical screening and shortlist. Candidates are screened by VEI engineers against that requirement, not against a keyword list. You receive a shortlist with the technical assessment attached, so you can see why each person is on it.
  3. Customer interview and selection. You interview, you choose. VEI arranges, briefs both sides and handles the commercial and contractual mechanics around the placement.
  4. Mobilisation and ongoing management. The specialist is mobilised to your project, with VEI managing the contractual relationship, and remaining the point of escalation for the duration of the engagement.

The same four steps run for a single day rate specialist in Ireland and for a field engineering team mobilised across several countries.

How does VEI supply specialists across multiple countries?

Resourcing an international programme fails in three predictable places, and each one is handled deliberately.

In country people, not travelling people. VEI supplies multilingual, in country certified field engineers for network deployments and installations, so work is done by people who are already there, already compliant locally, and already able to talk to the site.

Rapid mobilisation for multisite rollouts. The model is built for multisite global implementations, where a rollout needs several sets of hands in several places inside the same window rather than one engineer moving between them.

One commercial relationship across the estate. However many countries the programme touches, the contract, the coordination and the escalation route stay with VEI, from our Clane headquarters and our Manchester office, supporting customer operations in over 100 countries.

Where do expert people placements sit alongside VEI’s managed services?

They answer two different questions, and customers often use both.

Managed services is where VEI takes accountability for running your estate under an SLA, with our own certified engineers monitoring and supporting it day and night. You are buying an outcome.

Expert people placements is where you keep accountability and VEI supplies the capability, on a day rate, on contract to hire, or permanently. You are buying people.

Customers running a managed contract with VEI also draw on placements for project peaks. Customers with no managed contract at all use placements on their own. Managed Services & SLA Support covers the first of the two.

Who has VEI placed specialists with?

VEI has supplied specialists to BT, Computacenter, Irish Life and Children’s Health Ireland. Those engagements sit alongside work for global service providers, systems integrators and enterprise organisations, resourcing technology projects across retail and hospitality, healthcare and pharmaceutical, government and education, manufacturing, construction, energy and utilities, and transport and logistics.

Since 2010 we have delivered across all 26 counties of Ireland and supported customer operations in over 100 countries, backed by ISO 9001 quality management and working in HPE Aruba, Cisco, Arista, Microsoft, Luware and Zyxel environments.

Frequently asked questions

ICT resourcing in Ireland and internationally, common questions answered.

Do I need a managed services contract with VEI to hire a specialist?
No. The two are sold separately and either works on its own. Customers with no VEI managed contract use placements on their own, and customers running a managed contract draw on them for project peaks.
Can VEI supply one specialist, or is there a minimum engagement?
One specialist is a normal engagement. There is no minimum team size. The same offering covers a single person filling a gap and a full project team mobilised for a multisite rollout, and customers move in both directions as the work changes.
What are VEI's specialists certified in?
Our engineers work in HPE Aruba, Cisco, Arista, Microsoft, Luware and Zyxel environments, which are the same platforms VEI designs, installs and manages on its own projects. VEI is an ISO 9001 certified business and every specialist is technically screened by VEI engineers before being put forward.
Where can VEI supply specialists?
Across all 26 counties of Ireland, across the United Kingdom, and into customer operations in over 100 countries, from our headquarters in Clane, Co. Kildare and our office in Manchester. For international work we supply multilingual, in country certified field engineers rather than sending people to travel.
Can a contract specialist become a permanent employee?
Yes. That is the contract to hire model. The specialist delivers on your project on contract first and converts to your payroll if both sides want it, which is the usual route when a role is probably permanent but you would rather see the person deliver before committing.
What is the difference between expert people placements and managed services at VEI?
With managed services you are buying an outcome: VEI takes accountability for running your estate under an SLA, with our own engineers monitoring and supporting it. With placements you are buying people: you keep accountability and VEI supplies the capability, on a day rate, on contract to hire, or permanently.
