VEI Global design and deliver modern IT and telecommunications solutions that help buildings and businesses stay connected in an increasingly mobile-first world.
Our team works across a broad range of technologies, including:
- Business-grade Wi-Fi networks
- Local and wide area networking (LAN & WAN)
- Cloud-based telephony and unified communications
- Contact centre platforms and collaboration tools
- High-speed and resilient internet connectivity
With real-world project experience across multiple sectors, VEI Global bridges the gap between building design and the connectivity expectations of today’s users.
Training Aim
The aim of this course is to give engineers a clear, practical understanding of what is required when designing connectivity solutions that improve mobile signal performance inside buildings.
As construction methods evolve, connectivity can no longer be treated as an afterthought. This course focuses on helping engineers recognise challenges early and design effective, compliant solutions from the outset.
There are 2 main elements to the course:
GSM Mobile Signal Boosting
During this section, the VEI Global team will walk through the design of a typical GSM mobile signal boosting solution.
Modern buildings – Due to new insulation methods, energy efficiency standards, and materials such as triple glazing often restrict mobile signal penetration. This has made poor indoor mobile coverage a widespread and growing issue.
Engineers will learn:
- Why mobile signal loss occurs in modern buildings
- Where GSM boosting is most required
- How compliant boosting systems are designed and specified
Wi-Fi Networks in Buildings
In this section, the VEI Global team will design a typical in-building Wi-Fi network using industry-standard planning tools.
VEI Global are specialists in Ekahau software, which is used to:
- Create predictive and measured Wi-Fi heat maps
- Recommend access point locations
- Design cable routes
- Factor in wall thickness, materials, and building layout
Learners will gain insight into how professional Wi-Fi designs are produced and how accurate planning reduces cost, disruption, and performance issues.
Learning Objectives
Through discussions with M&E consultants and project stakeholders, connectivity is now a client priority in new building projects.
Changes in building regulations, insulation techniques, and materials have significantly impacted mobile and wireless communication signals. This course is designed to respond to those challenges.
By the end of the session, learners will:
- Enhance their understanding of modern connectivity issues
- Identify industries where in-building connectivity is critical
- Understand the range of technical solutions available
- Learn how connectivity solutions are designed and costed
- Participate in open discussion around real, live project examples
