The McGrath group is a privately owned investment and development company founded in the early 1980’s operating in Ireland, the U.K. and Germany. Their portfolio includes mixed use developments, apartment blocks, build to rent schemes, hotels offices and retail.
THE DEVELOPMENT
Palmers Gate is a project consisting of five blocks of apartments totalling 250 units.The development consists of one and two bedroom apartments with additional amenities including a café, high end gymnasium and cinema. The scheme also includes modern communal outdoor gathering areas for residents and a large playground for children. The scheme is situated in the heart of Palmerstown Village which has transport links to Dublin City Centre.
Phased delivery of this scheme will start in Q3 2022.
DEFINING THE PROJECT NEEDS
In 2022,The McGrath group sought to enhance the mobile signal in all areas of the Palmers Gate development, to allow residents to use GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) applications – such as power meters and intercom systems. In addition they required the installation of a secure and reliable Wi-Fi network for all common areas. The solution required would need to support and satisfy both the current and future connectivity needs of the residents and the development. VEI Global was awarded the contract to provide a comprehensive solution using Stella Doradus GSM, boosting the GSM signal on all floors for all mobile carriers. VEI Global conducted a physical site survey and mapped out the positioning of the boosters. We used our Ekahau survey tool to provide heat maps showing Wi-Fi coverage in the common areas and we worked with the electrical contractor to identify cable runs for access points.
THE IMPLEMENTED SOLUTION
Allows McGrath group and the future residents of the development to use new technology over both GSM and Wi-Fi. These include power meters, an intercom App, recharging car power stations and providing the development with access to boosted GSM signal. Significant cost benefits have been gained due to the fact that the applications are being provided through wireless networks thereby saving on cabling costs and installation.
